What will happen to the Watchtower Religion now that Trump has Withdrawn from certain aspects of the United Nations.
by liam inso trump has signed an executive order to withdraw from the united nations human rights council, a refugee organization, some others parts as well and calls for a review of american involvement in funding of the united nations.
he said the united nations has not been living to its potential and they need to get their act together or just dissolve the organization completely.
he said america will continue to be a part of the un but it's tiring that the united states is the country that funds most of the monies and that can't continue.

Characteristics of a Cult - Heaven's Gate
by dropoffyourkeylee inchacteristics of a cult - by my count, wt ticks 9 of the 12 boxes.
last night i watched a really interesting video (link below) put out by an ex-mormon site discussing the heaven's gate cult.
the person interviewed had a unique perspective in that he had firsthand contact with that group, specifically the house they lived in and the aftermath.

Its hilarious that JWs believe they are serious bible students. I actually believed it myself when I was active.
Number 11 on the list 'lack of critical thinking' says it all. JWs practice conditional learning, not cognitive learning. They are told what to think and feel. They are taught to associate feelings with words and phrases. As we all know, they never carry out critical analysis of any teaching.
They are no different to the well known experiment when a guy conditioned his dog to start salivating when he heard the sound of a bell.
And yet, most of them believe themselves to be bible scholars.

JW's home schooling over-representing
by joey jojo inspeaking to an old elder friend recently about his decision to home school his high school aged kids.. he claims that here in australia, about 30% of the students that log into online classrooms are jw's.
the others are disabled kids - who cant physically attend class and the rest are long distance students.. another generation of under-educated jw kids on the way..

Big difference in home schooling and online school. Online has a curriculum and real teachers. Some teachers are "woke" though. College credit courses are common. You are right. These days online learning is completely valid. My friend referred to his kids education as home-schooling but online learning would be more accurate.
However, the reason JW parents choose this option is not for the benefit of their kids but is another way to avoid reality.

Home schooling doesnât necessarily mean they are undereducated. Plenty of people do it.
True, but I wont hold my breath that any home-schooled JW kid wins a nobel prize. Every JW generation since at least the 60's has been under-educated, home-schooled or not.

American Primeval and the Mormons
by Simon injust finished season 1 on netflix.. holy crap, i had no idea of the history of the mormons!.
i always thought they were like the jws, or the quakers, but they were full on fascists committing massacres.. i'm sure they are hating having more people be aware of their past, but i gotta say, it is more event-filled than the jw history..

A lot of crackpot religions thrived in Pennsylvania thanks to William Penn and his tolerance of them.
Some notable contenders:
Moravians
Unitarians
Christians Scientists
Seventh Day Adventists
Amish
Quakers
Shakers
Transcendentalists
Spiritualists
Swedenborgian Church
Mennonites
Jehovahs Witnesses
Dukhobors
Harmonists
Pennsylvania was a breeding ground for fringe religious ideas. It makes sense that some grew and some didnt. Natural selection at work. JW's claim to be special but they are a by-product of what came before them.

Child abuse calculations
by Anony Mous inthere are no real numbers for jws but they are a relatively small group.
compared to the number of catholics at least.. the australian commission gathered more than 5000 cases with over 1000 perpetrators that went completely unreported for the jws.
likewise they did the same for catholics and collected just under 4800 cases with 1880 perpetrators.

What you cannot say about JW parents
by Anony Mous iniâm guiding a young person through some difficulties.
at least some of the family including a parent and grandparents are/were jw.
so there are some insecurities, without going into detail, young people are often worried that they may be ejected from the home after reaching a certain age if they offend their parents (totally normal feeling).. what i wanted to say is: a loving parent wouldnât reject you because you did x, if anything they are expecting it, it is totally normal for you to do this.

'Worldly' parents will often go to hell and back for their kids. JW parents have been brainwashed into believing that any mistakes their kids make is all on the kids and shift the blame for their genetics or bad parenting to them. Instead of responsible parents helping them through adolescence, they are ostracised.
Its cruel and it's unjust.

If you want to read the most recent, official WT version of this event, with all of its omissions,mis-quotes, mis-direction and straw-man arguments, here is the link: https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/wp20130901/did-languages-come-from-the-tower-of-babel/.
We all know the story. it basically makes the claim that the Tower of Babel event occurred in 2200 bce. Up until then, there was only 1 language, which the WT claims was Hebrew, form this quote:
'Up until some point after the global Flood, all mankind âcontinued to be of one language [literally, âlipâ] and of one set of words.â (Ge 11:1) The Bible indicates that the language later called Hebrew was that original âone language.â (See HEBREW, II.) As will be shown, this does not mean that all other languages stemmed from and are related to Hebrew but that Hebrew preceded all other languages.'
A 5 minute google search - that a child could perform and understand, tells us this:
In 2500 bce, there were already at least 4 major, verified language scripts, Egyptian, Indus, Sumerian and proto-Elamite.
How can WT possibly try to claim everyone in the world spoke hebrew before egyptian?
